Drakon's Prey (#2 Blood of the Drakon) - NJ Walters

Author                          NJ Walters
Publication Date         24 April 2017
Genre                            Adult Paranormal Romance

Valeriya Azarov turned her back on the family business to write and illustrate children’s books. But with a sister who leads the Knights of the Dragon, it’s impossible to get away from the secret society whose mission is to destroy and enslave dragons. When information falls into her hands along with the opportunity to save at least one of the ancient creatures, she can’t turn away any longer.

When a woman moves into the cabin above Tarrant Cooper’s secret underground lair, he’s both suspicious and intrigued. He hasn’t lasted four thousand years being careless, so when he suspects her of being a part of the Knights, the plan is to kidnap her and find out how much the organization knows about him and his brothers.

He’s drawn to Valeriya, but trusting her could get him killed. Even if she’s a pawn in the war between drakons and Knights, giving her his heart would mean forever.

I really enjoyed reading the first book in this series and Drakon's Prey is just as exhilarating. The Knights of the Dragons and Templar are still hunting down the Drakons under the guise of protecting the humans! Their real reasons? Greed and power! Interestingly, they might look like they are in collaboration but there is no shortage of backstabbing within and outside each organisation.

Tarrant is a Drakon, one of four brothers. He is a hoarder of communications and after everything that happened to Darius in book one, his main goal is to gather as much information as possible on the Knights. No more hiding as it has come to a point where they have go on the offensive if they want to survive.

Valeriya is a children's author and comes from a long line of Knights. Her sister is their leader but she finds the whole thing inhumane and stay out of this business as much as she can. Until now!

When Valeriya overhears a telephone conversation and stumbles on some information which could help the Drakons, she decides to take action. She takes a chance and travels to the location where she hopes to alert whoever resides there of the impending danger. Unbeknown to her, everyone of her movements is being watched. Tarrant doesn't miss a thing and although he is intrigued by her, he is suspicious of her visit. She is also unaware that she is being followed but she manages to give her persuers the slip. She has a gift that she has kept secret from everyone.

She makes the decision to return and wait. Tarrant seizes this opportunity to kidnap her and if she is working for the Knights, he would get any information he can out of her. He finds himself attracted to her and she isn't really afraid of him either. Cautious, yes! She too is unable to resist her attraction for him and the chemistry between them is sizzling hot. There is no getting away from this intense feeling but trusting each other is not so easy.

Valeriya is now thought to be missing and the Knights can't afford for her to land in the wrong hands and she is relentlessly persued. Tarrant is not prepared to sit back and allow anything to happen to her and as cautious as they are, they face mortal danger on more than one occasion. Will the Knights and Templar succeed in their mission?

Tarrant and Valeriya are very endearing. They are down to earth and logical in their thinking, except when it comes to protecting each other, then all bets are off. Rationale goes out the window. Their interactions are intense and sweet at the same time.

This story has a nice steady flow. It's full of danger, suspense, betrayal, humour and is very sexy. I was completely invested from beginning to end. I like the dynamics between Tarrant and his brothers. Ezra's and Nic's personalities are worlds apart and I would love to read their stories.

I received a complimentary eARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

About SIN WITH ME

The past she can’t remember. The secret he hides. And a love that’s worth risking it all.

After a devastating car crash stole both her family and her memory, Grace Stanton was left with no past and an uncertain future. Now Grace likes to keep things simple. The green-eyed, sexy-as-hell musician has “trouble” tattooed all over him, and Grace isn’t taking any chances with her heart.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have been looking forward to this story and goodness me, was it worth it? Definitely. An exceptional read!

Brody is the lead guitarist of the rock group, Bad Habits. He has the aura of a bad boy and the surfer look. He is single but has already set his sights on someone who does her best to avoid him.

Grace is a marriage and family therapist who avoids long term relationships at all costs. She is content with her casual affairs but is extremely loyal to her two besties, Kat and Chloe.

For eighteen months Brody has been making eyes at Grace to no avail. She avoids him for what she believes are good reasons but he is nothing if not persistent. It would appear that fate is determined to put them in each other's path. The incident which takes place at Grace's condo whilst she is at a party leaves her with little choices for the immediate future. From here on out it's a very emotional ride.

Their banter is hilarious most of the time but when it turns serious, it brings out all kinds of emotions. Their sexual interactions are steamy and their feelings are very tangible. Grace imparts some details of her parts to Brody but he finds it difficult to discuss the reasons why he carries this guilt on his shoulders.

When Brody's secret eventually catches up with him, it triggers life changing events for both of them. Will this revelation be the end of a beautiful thing or will fate prevail?

I absolutely love this story even though it drove me to tears at times. I couldn't help but feel everything that they were going through. Phew! It was exhausting but so worth it. It's also good to see how AJ, Nico, Kat and Chloe have evolved. It's like being part of this small family. As usual, Kenji always brings a smile to my face. Magda is a great character too. The whole thing is fabulously portrayed.

I am so glad that the author changed her mind about the "cliffhanger". That would have been devastating. Thank you for taking us right to the end. You can tell that I really enjoyed going on this journey.

I received a complimentary eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Review Tour for Morrow’s Horizon - Sierra Kummings

SBPRBanner-MorrowsHorizon-BT.jpg

Morrow’s Horizon, the first in an all-new series of standalones from Sierra Kummings is available now!

MorrowsHorizon-wrap-web

Morrow’s Horizon

 by Sierra Kummings

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blood, and love for a special little girl, bind the five Morrow sisters in an unbreakable way. Yet the family-devoted Sara Morrow yearns for more.

And that “more” looks a lot like the irresistible Jacob RamΓrez.

For years, Sara’s contented herself with toe-curling fantasies about the CFO of the bank that employs her – all the while promising herself she’d never fall for the type of passion that destroyed her parent’s marriage. But when the one and only Latin six-foot-four god accepts her offer of help and turns her fantasies into reality, she’s forced to decide if it’s worth finding out if her boss is everything she’s dreamed of, or just the manifestation of all her fears.

Jacob has his own set of fears. Right out of high school, he joined the Marines, only to come home six years later with night terrors that haunt even his days. Now, at thirty-three, rudimentary techniques keep his secret hidden.

Until a chance meeting with Sara Morrow coincides with a deception that rocks him to his core.

When Sara’s faith is tested, her sisters’ love gives her the courage to believe in someone else. When Jacob’s is tested, he has to learn how to believe in himself.

Excerpt

Sara turned toward the customer whose face she couldn’t see. One would think living this close to the Mexican border, she’d would be immune to the effects of the foreign language rolling off a man’s tongue. One would be wrong. Its gentle cadence sent her into fantasies at the first word.

If she were ever going to take a risk on anyone it would be with someone like the man who currently had his back to her while he placed his order. At least half a foot taller than Sara’s own five foot eleven inches, he towered over everyone, and in a way that commanded attention. His knee-length jacket hid everything but broad shoulders, yet his presence called to her on a visceral level. She didn’t have to see his face. She didn’t have to see his body. His sex appeal came from something far greater than those two things. And she wasn’t the only one staring. At least half the people in the place had their eyes focused on him too.

“Ma’am.” The barista nodded in Sara’s direction, breaking her fascination and offering a to-go cup.

As much as she wanted to continue staring, she grabbed her phone, took the coffee, and headed outside. Her favorite drink would have to suffice as the only hot thing in her life at the moment. Sipping it while she drove the rest of the way to work would be infinitely better than whatever drama that guy was sure to cause.

Shivering, Sara hustled to where she’d parked her car while checking the time on her phone. Twenty minutes to spare with only a fifteen-minute drive. Not bad. She smiled in triumphant at her little red Toyota.

Her smile didn’t last long. She’d come out with her coffee, but only two of her other possessions.

A voice behind her said, “You might need these.”

The familiar tenor from inside washed over Sara and made her forget all about the cold and how she’d be better off without the complication of one extremely sexy Latin man. His voice tempted her even more up close than it had in the cafΓ©.

She struggled for words, fearing her reaction would only intensify once she turned around. If he could start a shiver racing down her spine while he remained faceless, what would he do to her when her gaze actually met his?

Knowing he most likely had the keys she was now missing, she turned slowly, keeping her stare solely fixated on the huge palm holding out her keychain. “Um…” Oh, stop being an idiot. He’s only a man. “Thanks, I appreciate it…” Her voice trailed off as she realized the man in front of her was much more than only a man.

The person holding out her keys was none other than the person whose pictures she’d spent countless hours drooling over.

Jacob RamΓrez.

The Latin lover of her dreams.

Morrow’s Horizon portrays the family devotion for a little girl with Cerebral Palsy and the effects of PTSD on an ex Marine.

Jacob is an ex Marine who is now the CFO of his family bank. He is traumatised by what took place during the war and he is plagued with flashbacks. These can be triggered by what most would consider normal during the day and he has nightmares to contend with as well. Although, he has his own coping mechanisms, he loses control on the occasions when these attacks take him by surprise. He lives on his own for fear of anyone witnessing what he considers to be a weakness.

Sara works for a bank and dedicates her spare time fundraising for the veterans and helping her sister to look after her niece Tessa who is confined to a wheelchair. She is commitment phobic because of her parents' breakup but that doesn't stop her from fantasising about Jacob.

One chance meeting leads to a connection between Sara and Jacob but that's followed by a misunderstanding. In some ways, they both want the same thing but she has trust issues and he has a fear of hurting others as well as rejection. These are the reasons why he has a mutual agreement with Elise. Bed buddies without commitments until he uncovers her betrayal.

Sara and Jacob can't forget about each other and start a passionate relationship which is marred by one misunderstanding after another. These create a lot of heartaches and uncertainties. Then, there is the spoilt and despicable Elise who doesn't know how to take a hint. Can Sara and Jacob get over the numerous barriers to have the life that they deserve together?

This is quite an emotional journey but there is fun and laughter along the way. I like the Morrow family and how they stick together through thick and thin. Sara is hardworking, kind and considerate. Jacob is caring despite his own difficulties. They get each other even when they are struggling with their own feelings. I found that some parts of the story could have been more convincing, otherwise it's a captivating and heartwarming storyline. A great debut for this author.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Taken is not what I expected at all. It's an interesting concept with a bite!

Elise is out of a job and leads a rather boring and lonely life with no family or friends. This suddenly takes the most unusual turn.

She has just done her shopping and on her way to her car when she is grabbed by strong arms and flung into a van. She is being abducted! The two culprits take her to a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Being blindfolded, she doesn't have a clue where she is. Her abductors don't give anything away about their identities or their action. She can only guess that they are running from the law. One is very rough whereas the other appears to be amenable and she is more comfortable in his company.

That doesn't say much about her, with him being her captor and all. They appear to hit it off but then the tides change and she doesn't have a clue on how this is all going to end. Will she go down fighting or will someone come to her rescue?

This novella is very well rounded. It's well paced with good character development. The author keeps up the suspense right until the end when there is the most unexpected twist. It's short, easy to read and a real page turner.

Provocative (White Lies Duet #1) by Lisa Renee Jones - Review Tour

Provocative (White Lies Book One) by Lisa Renee Jones

Release Date:  April 18th
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Provocative Final Border 4.07.17 PM

Book one in the sexy and intense new White Lies duet by Lisa Renee Jones!

There are those moments in life that are provocative in their very existences, that embed in our minds forever, and sometimes our very souls. They change us, mold us, maybe even save save us. But some are darker, dangerous. If we allow them to, they control us. Seduce us. Quite possibly even destroy us.

The moment I walked into Sonoma’s Reid Winter Winery and Vineyard and made eye contact with Faith Winter for the first time was one of those moments. Provocative because I know at least one of her secrets, of which, I suspect she has many. Provocative because she believes I was a stranger to her when we met, but I am not. Provocative because I sought her out, with no intention of touching her. But now I have. Now I want her. Now I have to have her. But that changes nothing. It doesn’t change why I came for her.

Provocative is one of those books that doesn't give any respite. It's so intense and absorbing that it's impossible to put down.

Nick aka Tiger is a successful attorney on a mission. He always wins!

Faith is the owner of a vineyard and winery which comes with multiple problems. Although, she has taken on this responsibility, her heart lies in art.

Faith has never met Nick but he knows who she is. He has good reasons for seeking her out. When he first meets her, he feels the attraction between them. This attraction could well lead him to the evidence he is looking for. Neither of them trusts the other but as they spend time together, they start seeing some unexpected traits in one another and start opening up! This could well interfere with Nick's goal and he finds himself caught amidst conflicting emotions. When he thinks he is making headway, something crops up to put the spanner in the works. Faith is just as confused! She is totally unaware of what is really going on.

The first installment of this duet kept me in suspense from the word go. The story goes back and forth, from being positive in one moment and completely confusing and desperate in the next. The chemistry between Faith and Nick is palpable and their emotions are truly believable. It ends on a cliffhanger which left me begging for more. What comes next?

Vegas Lights - J Haney & S I Hayes

Author (s)                    J Haney & S I Haynes
Publication Date        24 January 2017
Genre                           Adult Contemporary Romance

Casey aka Brent Jagger is the lead guitarist of one of the best Southern Rock bands, in the world, Fallen Angels. He's been sober for three years when he wakes up hungover and in a bed, that isn't his. To make matter's worse there's someone in bed with him, and he's got a ring on that he doesn't recognize. He knows quickly he's messed up.

Thinking he can just get it annulled he sneaks out of the hotel to be grabbed by his detail and shoved into his car to be taken to the airport they have a gig in Sydney, and will be gone for three months, hoping Lawyers can handle it he's at a loss as he doesn't even know her last name.

When he finds her, he finds he's stuck, as she burrows under his skin. But can this mouthy, Texas girl handle the life of a Rocker? One on the brink of his addictions? Can they move past lust and find love at last? *Trigger Warning **Drug Use

They say that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! Apparently that's not the case with an impromptu wedding. Imagine waking up with a wedding ring on your finger and not remembering how it happened and more importantly who is the lucky bride or groom!

Brent is the lead guitarist of Fallen Angels, a famous Rock Band. He is a reformed drug and alcohol addict but he slips up one night and goes on the bender. The result is a total surprise. One that he is not able to face or comprehend. So, he runs. His lawyer can surely get him out of this mess.

Marissa is a pole dancer with an ultimate goal in mind. When she wakes up with a wedding ring on her finger, she doesn't remember a thing but finds all the evidence, except for the groom.

Three months later and Marissa finds herself in a position where she has to find her "husband". Using the only information that she has about him, she drives to his place. Nothing is what she was expecting. It just happens that this is the day that Brent returns home from his tour. They have to make a decision and Marissa agrees to stay until that decision is made.

As the story develops, Brent issues come to the surface and funnily enough, they don't deter Marissa from staying. She has her own issues and she has an idea on how to deal with the situation. The physical attraction between them is electric and soon they start analysing their feelings as well. Will they give themselves a chance and come clean about their pasts to at least try and make the marriage work?

Brent isn't afraid about showing his vulnerability. The things that he has gone through since a very young age are horrendous but the band has helped him to get to where he is. That doesn't always help with his issues though. Marissa has had her fair share too and this puts her in a better position to understand what Brent is going through. If anything, it helps to develop this special bond between them. I like their personalities but I must admit that my respect for them went down by a few notches after an awards after party. It's a total disaster but then the reasons why, come to light and they redeem themselves, although I still find this situation a tad uncomfortable.

It's a well written rocknroll novel with the sex and drugs to go with it. The band members are good fun and they support each other, mainly Brent. Kyle is Brent's twin and although I felt like strangling him at times, knowing what I know now, I would like to hear his story. Overall, it's a dark story with a light side. It's compelling and easy to read but be aware of some very delicate and sickening subjects. The big surprise that comes at the end adds a nice and positive note to the story.

I received a complimentary ecopy in exchange for an honest review.
